“Good things come in small packages” is never more true than when referring to these beautiful, twin girls! Weighing in at only four pounds at birth, they are truly miracle babies! At only six pounds at six weeks for their first photoshoot, they are still smaller than any babies that I’ve known, even at their time of birth!
They are so tiny and delicate and, yet, already have such strong personalities and opinions! (More on that in a minute…) And they most definitely know their momma!
She could calm them quicker than any trick I had! I’m not only a newborn photographer but a mom and a grandma; however, her intimate connection with her twins trumped all my experience…and I think that is awesome! How is it that after giving birth a woman is thrust into motherhood and is instantly the expert on another human being…? It is a divine gift to be sure! Watching this momma with her precious babies was AMAZING!
My very favorite part of photographing Josie and Chrissy was seeing them snuggle! Josie was pretty chill and seemed to love having her photo taken. Chrissy, however, was not as happy about the experience. She never really settled into a deep sleep like her sister except for when I had her snuggled up into Josie. Even swaddling her didn’t do the trick!
She was most content, even though they were just in diapers, when she was physically connected to her twin sister. Maybe that skin-to-skin is what made her feel most comfortable, taking her back to the womb. It was so sweet as she seemed to melt into her sisters arms.
How did I rectify the non-sleepy Chrissy situation? (I really needed some pics of just her, but she really was NOT having it!) Well, I grabbed a quick photo while I could and then said that was the good thing about identical twins: you take pictures of one, you’ve automatically got pictures of the other! haha ~ While writing this post, I found this quote by Ray Romano and had to laugh: “Identical twins. I’m glad they’re identical ’cause you save money on photographs. That’s what I like. Yeah. Here’s my little boy. I got another one just like it.”
I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with these identical beauties and their momma and grandma. Krystalyn and her husband may have double the diapers ahead of them, but they also have double the snuggles, kisses, and LOVE‼️
“There’s two to wash, two to dry; There’s two who argue, two who cry; There’s two to kiss, two to hug; and best of all, there’s two to love! “ –Jerry Smith
“So many good things come in pairs, like ears, socks and panda bears. But, best of all are the set of twins, with extra laughter, double grins.” Anonymous
